This is so great. One of my favourite Cash Money singles. The beat is bananas, Mannie Fresh was at his peak around this time. The 'two lines then pass the mic' format is fucking great too, you don't really see that too much these days. Everyone wants to rap for like 64 bars and shit, before they let anyone else say anything.


Late 90s New Orleans rap fashion was awesome too, as you can see in this video. Clean white Reeboks, camouflage bandanas around the neck or on the head, fade left kinda bushy on the top, one gold chain, bare chest or a wifebeater, and an incredibly low sag. Perfect.

I don't remember that "Let's Get It On" sample on "Boombastic", has that always been there? Did they put out some off-brand remix in America or something? I do not know.

It's still fucking good though, and so's the version I remember. Beavis and Butthead commentary on top pushes it into greatness.

They should have some kind of 'red-button' option on MTV where you can turn on Beavis and Butthead commentary over everything they show. It'd be pretty difficult to get off the ground, and maintain over time, and it'd probably mean a huge increase in MTV subscription costs, but it'd be for the greater good, I think. Sometimes we all have to make sacrifices.
